Computer Offences QLD

Computer offences and cybercrime are crimes committed via the use of technology and communication devices, such as computers and mobile phones.

Computer offences have increased over the last couple of decades, as advances in technology have allowed criminals to commit sophisticated illegal actions.

The crimes committed via technology vary between basic offences and serious offences, and can include such things as fraud, theft, child pornography and serious hacking. There are also some other crimes that can be perceived as cyber-crimes, such as online bullying and sexting.

While advances in technology are allowing more advanced methods of cybercrime to occur, law enforcement are also on the cutting edge of cybercrime detection, and so it is becoming more frequent for computer related offences to be detected.
